Monday Quotes: The Thirteenth Tale

"There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic."
-Diane Setterfield, The Thirteenth Tale

I loved this book. I love narrators who love the same things I do--books and writing. When I read this part in the book, I was impressed by how familiar was the feeling Setterfield described. I wish I could be better at expertly crafting words so that they pierce the heart--but that takes time. Lots of time. And lots of practice.

Well, I guess I better get back to practicing!

See you for Wednesday Writes!
