“Who are you? Who are you really?”Warnings: There is lots of sexual tension and some swearing.
His mouth turned even more grim. “We’re getting closer.”
"You want to kill me!"
Synopsis from author’s website:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.
My thoughts:
If you’re not ready to stay up all night trying to finish this book, don’t start. You will not be able to tear yourself away. I promise.
I can count on one hand the numbers of books that have made me not think about anything else. This was one of them. I LOVED Hush, Hush
Our story begins with Nora Grey. She enters her science class on the day of the human reproduction unit. The teacher surprises the class with creating a new seating chart. Nora ends up next to Patch—a tall, dark, and handsome new transfer student. The homework assignment is to do a write-up on the student’s new lab partner. Unfortunately for Nora, who prides herself with getting good grades, Patch doesn’t seem interested in giving her any information. And he seems to know plenty from just observing her.
From the minute that Patch arrives in her life, things are set into motion. There is a stranger looking in her window, a guy who jumps in front of her car and smashes the door. She meets two guys from another school, who, along with her best friend Vee, try to get Nora to have some more fun. And Patch is always there to rescue her. Like a guardian angel, Nora thinks.
Except for that gnawing feeling that she has that tells her he’s dangerous. The twist is pretty intense. A fallen angel. I love that theme. An angel that falls and is doomed to walk the earth seeking after to return to his status. Patch gave up his place, as an angel for what he thought was love. His only way to get back is to kill Nora—someone he has fallen in love with. But does Nora return that love? Or is this love just as fleeting as the one that put Patch in this place before.
Becca Fitzpatrick did an amazing job with the story. There’s a sequel due out Fall 2010. This year. It’s called Crescendo. And I will be pre-ordering it. Or I will be at Barnes & Noble, Borders, or Costco—whoever has the book cheapest (sorry… I am a poor grad student) on the day of release to buy this book. Hopefully I will be ahead on all of my homework and classwork because I will be hidden in my bedroom, devouring that book too.
Recommendation: Purchase purchase purchase!!!!!
