Wednesday Writes: Exercise #1

Stand in front of the mirror. Write down what you see in such a way that someone that has never laid eyes on your might see you through your description. Work in hints of character or flaws.

I’m horrible at description. It’s a weakness, I know. I’ll post here what I wrote:

A light sprinkle of freckles dabbles over her cheekbones and nose. Immediately under the scrutiny of another’s gaze, those cheeks grow bright red. Her eyes lower until there’s barely a glimmer of the dull blue anymore. She gives a half a smile; a dimple appeared in her right cheek. Her fingers begin to comb through her blond hair that drapes just past her shoulders. She twists and plays with the hair, until it’s wound tightly around her hand and pulled to one side of her head. She lifts her eyes just for a moment and then quickly drops it. Her teeth clamp down on her lower lip, pulling it inward as she examines the ground beneath her black shoe.
